Think insure - cancellation fee

Options
Hi, my girlfriend had an account with think money and we are in the process of getting a proper bank account, one of the things she had on her account was a think protect plus insurance policy,
She's phoned to cancel this and being charged a £10 cancellation fee, after trying to be sold home, car and life insurance,
Ive helped her look through her stuff and can't find any term and conditions nor are there any online.
Can tgery charge this for no reason?

Cheers, david

If they fail to notify you then its unfair. Call them and ask where in the terms and conditions do they mention the £10 charge.

If the original t&cs that she agreed to mention the canx charge then she should pay it.

What type of policy is this?

Its mobile phone and gadget insurance, she isn't the most money savey, and I'm sure it was sold over the phone, she didn't realise there was a £15 monthly fee for the account she had.

Most insurance providers will charge for a mid term cancellation and even if this insurance is provided through the bank acc they may have canx charges.

Did she not get any policy docs or written confirmation of the cover by email or post?

I am not altogether familiar with policies that are provided as part of a bank acc but I would say they are still obliged to provide you with t&cs which would include any canx terms.

If you can't find any correspondance regarding this, could it be that it was mislayed or do you think none was sent.

If the acc was arranged over the phone then the call should have been recorded. You could make a complaint to the company and ask them to listen to the original call if you think it has been mis sold.

Honestly I don't think £10 is too much to cancel a policy mid term.

She's had the insurance for over 2 years and the only correspondance I can see is relating to an increase in the monthly premium. And certainly no yearly lettered to confirm another year with them
Which to me assumes its a monthly insurance product?
So how can they charge a mid term cancellation fee, especially after taking the premium out the day before she phoned to cancel it.
