Scottish Power removed without consent my RCD unit

Hi,

On Monday 31/3/14 I had a electrician call to carry out a electrical safety test, during his inspection he advised me to have a RCD ( residual current device ) fitted, I told him I had one when the house was rewired 15yrs ago, on inspection of the fuse board I noticed it must of been removed by Scottish Power in March 2009 when they fitted a prepayment meter, its only a small fused board and the electrician said it was removed to be able to accommodate one of the units SP fit when installing the prepayment meter, has anyone ever had a problem or similar to this who can advise me what I can do.

I have called SP today who say they will rise this as a complaint, I have to give them 10 days to do so.

If it was fitted to the meter board then SP can refuse to allow you to fit your own equipment to that board, and SP will probably have in their conditions of service that they can remove customer equipment from the meter board and/or that you agreed to it when you had the prepayment meter changed.

However a house wired 15 years ago would be very unlikely to have a separate RCD - whole-house RCDs were deprecated in 16th Edition wiring regs (from 1991).

Could you put up a photo of your incomer, meter board and consumer unit please.
