Headache using the old stamps for the new postal rates

Bought a lot of 1st and 2nd class stamps before the prices went up - now they are worth 62p and 53p.
I have a few small parcels to post and am struggling to make up £2.80 with these amounts! Haven't even started on making up £1.17 and £1.48!!!!
Previously it used to work out fine - 4 @50p + 1 @ 60p sorted out the small parcel rate.
Have given up - will have to go and buy some 2p, 5p and 15p if they do still sell them!
How are others dealing with this?

Well the closest you're going to get using just your existing 1st and 2nd class stamps is:
£2.80: 3x53p + 2x62p (=£2.83)
£1.48: 3x53p (=£1.59)
£1.17: 2x62p (=£1.24)Stompa0 -
I have done that for the £2.80. With the others, I will get a few smaller denominations. Not paying RM anything more than I have to!0

Same here.
I'll be buying smaller priced stamps (to make up the postage) too.

Closest I can get is £2.81 - 1st + 2nd + 1st LL + 2nd LL0

I have some older stamps too - keep forgetting to use them - but wonder how other people manage to fit up to 5 x single stamps onto packages that may be quite small?
Also, do they have to be grouped a certain way on the package?0 -
Why not buy stamps that say 1st and 2nd on them rather than the ones with values printed on them then they can still be used without having to add smaller value stamps.0

I think the problem is the parcel rate at £2.80 as OP is using the 1st 2 nd etc at new prices.
For £2.80 2 nd class small packet I use 3 x 1st LL plus 1pI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm sure it'll cost royal mail more in time checking all of these stamps than they get in extra postage. I bet they just see a parcel with a load of stamps on and think "yeah, probably right, toss it over there!"0

Ah I get it now, thanks for explaining it.0

Lol, the lengths people will go to, to save a few pence.0
