ING's latest idea to avoid paying decent rates!

With another 0.25% BOE rate rise looking likely on Thursday ING are taking no chances that they might have to raise their rates at long last, so to quell the uprising from dissatisfied savers (the few they have left I imagine) they have jumped the gun by offering a draw with a prize of £10,000 if you become a regular saver with them!
Obviously the 'whizz kids' at ING have thought this one up realising that it's cheaper to give £10 grand away than to raise it's interest rates!

Become a regular saver now for a chance to win £10,000*
If you set up a regular monthly payment by 31 July 2007, you'll automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a top prize of £10,000, or one of ten £1,000 runner-up prizes. Just login at ingdirect.co.uk or call our Customer Service Team and set up a Regular Saver, for any amount that suits you.

Well I logged in but can't see anything. Whereabouts? What rate do they give you for the regular saver?0

Well I'm a valued customer too, but obviously m £15K is not valued enough!
So come Aug 2nd when my fix is up, on the move we go. Unless they are sending out emails in batches.0 -
I had to chuckle when I got this email.I am another "valued customer",yet there is zilch in my accounts, having transferred the lot out last month, and when i can be bothered i will write to them and tell them to close them officially.I flatly refuse to pay to ring them up and tell them, which i think you are supposed to do.
They really are losers.0 -

Mary, I wouldn't be too worried if I were you, judging by the amount of people who have pulled around £3bn out of ING in the past few months I would imagine that with £15 k you are one of their very best customers!:rotfl:0 -
I only have about £10 in mine and I am a valued customer too apparently.
Actually, I don't much care if I'm a valued customer, that just means they are making money out of me! What I want is for them to be a valued supplier for me. At the moment my most valued suppliers are Nationwide for their 6.5% regular saver and IceSave. ING Direct are not on my radar.... when i can be bothered i will write to them and tell them to close them officially.I flatly refuse to pay to ring them up and tell them, which i think you are supposed to do.
Please don't waste money on a stamp though:
ING Direct, FREEPOST, NATW1784, Reading, RG6 1BR
I think this is for cheque deposits really but don't care.0 -
They'll just reply to your letter telling you that you have to phone them to close the account.I had to chuckle when I got this email.I am another "valued customer",yet there is zilch in my accounts, having transferred the lot out last month, and when i can be bothered i will write to them and tell them to close them officially.I flatly refuse to pay to ring them up and tell them, which i think you are supposed to do.0 -
I do have a few freephone numbers for them i will try first. What would happen if i leave the accounts empty do you think? Would they eventually write to me if i don't contact them and ask what i intend doing,or would they close my accounts because i haven't got anything in them?
I just think they deserve my inactivity after their lack of customer care, after all their promises initially.0 -
I'd have thought that they would close accounts with just the minimum balance that had been left dormant for a long time, but when I phoned to close my account the person I spoke to tried to convince me to do just that 'in case the rate went up again'. The worst that can happen if you leave the account empty is that they close it at some point. If you intend to do that anyway, it isn't a problem.I do have a few freephone numbers for them i will try first. What would happen if i leave the accounts empty do you think? I am a valued customer as well... I closed my accounts with them a good few months ago. How stupid are ING??? But i have to say its a good way of tempting savers to deposit cash with them.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0
