Company gone into insolvency what now?

My partner works for a solicitors and yesterday they claimed themselves insolvent. They owe my partner 5 weeks worth of wage, which we do not know whether he will get back. If he choose to get a new job and walk out before the doors close he will not get his earnings. We are in a real predicament as I'm a full time student at uni and solely rely on his income. We also have a new flat which we have been at for 2 months, if we had foreseen this we would not have got a flat but it was very unexpected and only told on the day it happened. Any advice on paying bills and what to do next? Thanks.
