Meter running backwards (no solar)

I bought my house from a property developer in January and submitted electricity readings to the provider before changing to first utility - when I came to doing the reading for first utility I noticed the reading was less and I thought I had just made a mistake. But now its time for a meter reading again and again the reading is less! I have read that solar panels can cause this but I dont have solar panels - so now I am wondering what the heck is going on? To make matters worse I have submitted my readings the wrong way round - I put the gas reading in the lec box on the submission form - der :o Do you think the meter has been messed with or am I missing something?. Thanks

Just to eliminate a reading error, is it an old fashioned meter with clock dials, as its easy to read these incorrectly?

Please post a picture of your meter and surround equipment, it makes the advice given much more accurate.

You read the meter like this, if after 1 but not before 2, its number 1 etc
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

As posted, old style 'Dial' meters are difficult to read and even cause problems for meter readers - Google " How to read my meter" for info. on reading all types of meter

However if you are certain of your reads, the fact that this property was re-developed gives cause for concern as to the quality of it's re-wiring.
Read the meter 3 times a day for 2 days to check your findings, and then if you are still sure of the sequential negative reads, You must WRITE to FU reporting the problem to protect yourself against future allegations of meter tampering

In the same letter advise them of your crossed over Gas/Elec start reads and back this up with photo's of your meters
