PPI Claim? - can't remember any details!

Options
Hi there,

I don't think I really have a case here, but with all this talk of PPI - plus about a million PPI recorded phoncalls from companies! - I thought I would maybe give it a go if it is worth doing it.

I'm pretty sure that I have thrown away all of the paperwork I had for this as well! About 7/8 years ago my sister convinced me to get a laptop for her in my name on credit from Currys. Now, not so long ago I was looking at the paperwork for it and in the booklet paperwork there was a tick in the box next to "do you need PPI" and I had signed the paperwork also.

At the time I was about 19 / 20, and i'm not even sure if I even knew what PPI was! I was in full-time work at the time, and then went to uni when I was 20/21. I'm not sure if I notified them of me being a student though! The agreement was with HFC bank.

I'm not sure if I would be able to make any sort of claim based on the fact that I don't think I have the paperwork, and can't remember the exact details etc!

Thanks

What would your reasons for complaint be?

Currys sold it to you so you complain to Dixons retail group.

You will also need to send them a SAR and £10 to see if anythig is left - see the links in the sticky.

If your recollection is off by a few years, if it was sold prior to January 2005, you've practically no chance.

Doh! Sorry, forgot to mention that!

That I didn't want or need it really. I really can't remember the PPI being mentioned at the time of signing. I guess i'm also asking here is if I could make a claim? I'm not fussed either way, but if I could stand to get some money back it would be welcomed!

OK, thank you, i'll have a look at that. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't before Jan. 2005 because I was still at school then.

    That's utterly weak, I'm afraid.
You say in post #1 that you ticked the box and signed for the PPI. You also say that you were in full time employment at the time of the sale and only became a student later. It's your circumstances at the time of the sale (not later) which determine whether you were mis-sold.
Expect any complaint to be rejected, but most likely because neither you nor they have any documentation.
