Scottish Power cheapest on USwitch!
I changed to EDF a couple of years back from Powergen and saved quite a bit. But I just ran my details through USwitch and Scottish Power now come out even cheaper, by £44 per year. In the past they were always much more expensive, and British Gas are second at £31 cheaper and Powergen are £29. This is based on 21000kw/h gas and 6500kw/h electricity and doing everything online with direct debits.
The SP plan is called Online Energy Saver 4 Dual Fuel
Am I missing something here, or have SP and BG really reduced their prices so much? Or have EDF put them up?

I was with EDF but switched back to SPin February. EDF, although promising to beat my SP payments initially, ended up costing me more when i provided them with readings.
I switched back to SP via Quidco and got some more cash back.
When i called them to querie a new bill i was told to try an online tarriff as they are cheaper again.
I did this via quidco too and got more money. Since January my DD payments have gone from £108 (with EDF) to £90 (with SP online dual) plus £70 cash back from QuidcoOfficial DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

Way back I switched to SP as they were the cheapest. As prices looked to rise, last tear I took their fixed tariff and when that ran out I switched to their Esaver tariff. I am convinced that I have had the cheapest dual fuel rates of all for my particular requirements.
Unless you know different! Anyone??0 -
I tried it again with a couple of other comparison sites and they all say the same, SP is cheapest by about £44 a year. So I switched to SP last night via Quidco for some cashback too.
They must be positively trying to be cheaper than the likes of EDF now by having at least one plan that is alway cheaper. However, every other SP plan was quite expensive. There must be lots of people on SP plans that could switch to another cheaper SP plan very easily, possibly just calling them. I noticed on the comparison sites that I could have switched to the SP Online Energy Saver 4 Dual Fuel plan even if I was already with SP.0 -
I have checked the online comparison sites and they say Scottish Power will save me between £44-£46 a year.
But I am on EDF online v1 which none of the comparison sites offer as a drop down, they all have standard dual fuel and online v5
When I manually calculate the charges for SP online saver 4 it works out £19 more expensive for gas and electric last quarter.
Beware if you do a comparison that you are in fact saving.
While my tariff has a high initial cost, the threshold kWh is low, SP is lower initial cost but higher kWh threshold, therefore more expensive.
Couple that with a bad experience when I tried to switch to Scottish Power previously and excellent service from EDF and freephone telephone number I think I'll stay put.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0
