Lying ebay sellers... Grr!

So, bought an item 2.5 weeks ago.
Got an email from the seller after 6 days saying that they were out of the country and 'sorry for the delay'.
After another 6 days I sent a follow up asking when they had dispatched it. No response for two days, so I opened a case.
Yesterday, a day after opening the case, I get a message saying 'sorry, dispatched last Tuesday (a week ago), have you still not received it?'
Miraculously receive a parcel today with the item in it. The postage on the package has yesterday's date on it!!
Really frustrating. I wouldn't be so annoyed had the seller stated that they'd forgotten about it but that it was on it's way.

Ebay do have a holiday setting so they couldve used that to state when they would be back??
If not then seller should be at fault0 -
You have not made it clear what you want from the seller.
The holiday setting only applies if they have a shop. Check from the listing what their despatch time is, i.e. within 1 working day, or whatever they have stated. Any time outside of this, I would have cancelled, they are unreliable.
May I ask before you made the purchase did you check the sellers feedback? this may have given you a clue.
Take a photo of the parcel, with date of postage on, and contact Ebay, as seller is at fault for not keeping up with their agreement, plus telling untruths about when they posted the item. Try to obtain some kind of recompense.
As a final leave them negative feedback and complete the DSR (Detailed Seller Ratings), if they are a business.

The replies make me feel I have woken up in a parallel universe.
OP you have your item, your rant is completely justified. Close the case and leave appropriate feedback and stars.
No need to worry about taking photos of the parcel :rotfl: or wondering if you missed their holiday settings :laugh:0 -
Neg and move on. 2 and a half weeks to post isn't acceptable.0

I had someone post the items after ebay/paypal had refunded me. When the items arrived they were in a dirty filthy state. All loose and rattling around in a bin bag. What a way to post things.
The items are behind my shed in the bermuda triangle.
Seller claimed to have forgot , Then they were ill yet managed to buy and sell and even go to collect some large childrens toys.
As 45 days approached they stopped responding. So i opened a dispute. Instead of replying to the dispute they used ebay messages to say they posted it.
Dispute timed out and i got refunded. I think the postmark was the day after i got refunded.
If they had been honest and say they forgot or couldnt be bothered then fair enough but lies and ignoring me makes me think the worst.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone. MSE always has me smiling!
My OP was more of a rant than anything. I've sent a rather tongue-in-cheek message to the seller about the post office printers being broken, and will give feedback as appropriate.
