Just a tiny PAD of £1.69 to the savings today please EE.

I feel your pain re the car TTFM - ours just failed its MOT and will cost £650 to repair or we can buy a second hand one from the garage which is in better condition and less mileage for £750. Rock and a hard place- we need a car for OH's work but had been struggling to put money aside toward repairs/replacement and the timing couldn't be worse - although saying that when is it ever good timing for these things to go kaput? Oh well, back to the drawing board.

MFW August 2023 - unless I get my butt into gear :D
  • I don't think anyone is ever prepared for when cars go kaput (well unless you are really wealthy). Many years ago my DH got a car on finance (the interest rate was huge) and it was ok for a few years and then the cam belt snapped and ruined the engine. I had a Vauxhall Vectra worth £1500 but with finance of £3000 owing plus a bill to pay of £2000:eek:

So we opted to have the car fixed and to pay off the finance otherwise we wouldn't have had a car but years later I often wonder if we did the right thing.

My last car was purchased on my credit card:eek: but I am slowly saving money in different pots so hopefully when the time comes for another car I will be able to buy it outright
  • Total for 4/11

    £436.36
Well done everyone - 10.20% paid of the challenge total!!

Have you checked out scrapping your old car you should be able to get £100 plus for it and offset it against the new one. I scrapped a car about 18 months ago and got £120 for it.

My PAD today is £4.50 please EE
As of 24th August 2016 total money owed was
