Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Hey guys,

Unfortunately my partner suffers with quite severe generalized anxiety disorder and has had to give up her job and remain at home.

It did put a massive strain on our relationship so we opted it would be better for us if she didn't go to work, and since she has finished we have become even closer and have never been happier, even though we are worse off financially we have been so happy.

But since then she has gone self employed and has gone back to her fashion design roots, so she makes home accessories, and also buys and sells.

But is there any benefit or anything she can claim for her disability? I'm going to assume that there isn't but I thought it was worth asking.

Thanks

Drew

Now she has finished work it might be worth popping your details into the benefits calculator on https://www.turn2us.org.uk to see if you are eligible for anything.

Any means tested benefits will be based on your combined income and savings.

Is your partner receiving any help for her anxiety? Medication/counselling?

You could google Personal Independence Payment and see if she might be eligible. This is based on care/mobility needs. It is not a means tested benefit.
  • If you do get your mum to sign over her house to protect your "inheritance" as per your other thread ... This may impact your eligibility for means tested benefits.
