Hi,
Are you allowed to add a named driver who does not live at your address. i.e parents?

Yes - should be no problem at all.0 -
Add the Queen if you like. As long as you keep your insurance updated if the named drivers have any claims or points etc.
Fail to keep your insurer informed could be costly for you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Sounds fine to me, I certainly cannot find anything on my insurance documents to say contrary. I put my boyfriend on and he lives 40 miles away from me. Putting other named drivers on, like your parents, can hopefully bring your insurance down. I remember the Money Show saying so a while back
At the end of the day, so long as the car is kept where you say it is kept most of time and tell the truth on the insurance, you will be fine0 -

Not sure whether the queen would agree to telling you her claims or conviction history, though.
But it does highlight how important it is to trust the named driver to be honest about their record, otherwise you could be uninsured without even knowing it.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

I highly doubt the Queen has driving convictions, she is above the law so hardly going to convict herself.
Also insurance co's are becoming wise to all this named drivers, job description fiddling etc. I was running quotes the other day and it's all more or less the same for me.0 -
Add whomever you like. I added my girlfriend well before we shared an address, and I've also added various friends I've gone on weekend breaks with so that we can share the driving if necessary.
It does need to be someone you know reasonably well though. Apart from the need to be sure you're declaring their driving history accurately, if you make a claim the insurer might ask to see the driving licences of all the named drivers, even ones who weren't driving at the time. You'd probably have trouble getting hold of a copy of the queen's licence*, which might cause you problems if you had to make a claim.
*Does she even have a licence? I sort of presumed that she got chauffeured everywhere... though I do seem to remember her driving a land rover in that documentary with Helen Mirren.0 -
Does one need a driving licence when one is cruising around one's private estates? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

This is really common.
We are registered keeper/owner of car which is now in the care of daughter - no point in transferring documents. She is the policy holder, though I think we paid for it. She is a student in Newcastle, we live in the Midlands. I named driver and that got a 30% discount.
All fully disclosed and discussed with the insurer.
We did have a problem when we queried other daughter borrowing a car on which she was named driver for about a month at uni. Direct Line were most unhappy about this as they felt this was fronting. We paid out to insure it properly but Direct Line then list the insurance when they would not switch back to the original terms of insurance after the car's little holiday.0
