Gambling companies searching credit files

Have just been checking my Noddle credit rating in preperation for a mortgage application. Just 2 late payments dating back to 2009 so relatively happy with that, however:-

I like to have a little bet on the footy every so often. Not huge amounts, just £5 here and there to keep me interested. I recently opened accounts with Skybet and Coral to take advantage of offers they were running. After checking my credit files today both companies show up as having recently searched my credit file under the section 'money laundering'.

Will mortgage lenders be able to see who searched?
Will they look at that information unfavourably?

Thanks in advance.

Potential lenders can never see who else has searched your file for any type of search, and they cannot even see which companies you currently have credit acount accounts with.
All they see is an anonymised copy of your credit file, no names.

Your mortgage lender may well want to see copies of your bank statement and so could possibly see gambling transactions on there - I doubt very much that £5 here and there would interest them (£100s a week almost certainly would).

    That's reassuring, thanks.

Yes I've cancelled all accounts now as I don't want them appearing on my bank statements.

They are soft searches and so not visible via the normal processes.

Occasionally of cause you may be asked to send the file to them yourself, normally for an appeal, in which case they do then become visible.

Even then, anti-money laundering checks are a part of life and as long as they dont then end up with a CIFAS loading etc then no lender should have any issues with an anti-money laundering check or two. Of cause if they have an issue with you gambling is another issue
