PPI reclaim from Egg

Hi, I am about to start a PPI claim from Egg for a loan that I started in 2003.
I don't have any of the account numbers but I do have my bank statements from the period.
Against each loan repayment I have a reference number in the format xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx
Do you think that these references are sufficient to start the claim or should I try to obtain the loan/PPI account numbers?

You need to properly establish whether you actually had PPI and only then proceed to complain if you have valid mis-selling reasons. It's not enough merely to have had PPI, it must have been mis-sold to you in order that it be refunded.

Yes, I definitely had PPI and I feel it was mis-sold. I was made to feel it was compulsory - also I am self employed.
I was just wondering if the payment references are likely to be sufficient to pursue the claim or whether I would need to obtain the loan account and PPi account numbers. I understand that a SAR request may not be successful after 6 years

By whom? Most Egg sales were online or mailshots. How was yours taken out?

also I am self employed.

most PPI covers self employed fine. Does yours not?

I am also stuck with old PPI details, I have lost my details for egg CC through various moves. However, I do have details for my egg savings account and the last 4 digits for CC account through experian. I have contacted both Citi and Barclaycard and they can't trace as the account was closed just before 2011.


Can anyone help 'us' (David too) out on who to contact regarding obtaining details for egg?

Send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to Egg, it will cost £10. Anything as recent as 2011 will show.
