Notts Parking Partnership Parking Ticket

Hi,
on the 25th March I was parked outside a shop using the cash machine while my 4 year old was left in the car. While using the cash machine a parking warden walked around the corner. Needing to get some milk I asked if it was ok to nip in and get some and would be no longer than 2 min he said that was fine. I was in the shop no longer than 30 seconds before turning around to notice him starting to write a ticket. Putting the milk down I left the shop and had stern words with him an proceeded to drive off without him leaving a ticket with myself.
I have now received a penalty charge notice stating that it has been served by post because he had begun to prepare the PCN but I drove off before it was finished.
Where so I stand on this?
