Disability question/advice

I have a disability question regarding a good friend of mine. He is hard of hearing and wears NHS hearing aids. I don’t mean to be rude or offensive but would he be classed having a disability i.e. disabled?

The reason I ask this he hasn’t declared this on his tax credits, and we got into a discussion whether or not he should declare himself having a disability because of his deafness.

Any advice on this greatly appreciated.

When they ask if you have a disabiltiy I would imagine it's to then find out whether you receive any disability or incapacity benefits.

With his deafness he does actually have a disability, but unless he receives any benefits because of this, then it doesn't really matter whether he says yes or no to having a disability on the form.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

It does matter if he does not say he has got a disability on the form because he may be entitled to the disability element in his tax credits, he does not have to be receiving benefits to get this.

whoops, sorry healy, don't know anything about tax credits so perhaps I should have left the post to be answered to somebody who does have knowledge. :o

I've given myself a good smack. OUCH! :o
