I could be wrong, but I don't think that this "major sale" is in fact a major sale....

Not saying the prices aren't good, I got myself a pair about 2 months ago for £22, should have been £70....

I just think these are the regular prices that they charge!

Still well worth a mention for people looking for outdoor shoes / boots!

Same price in store. Have been for over a year. I think Sports Soccer bought the Karrimor name and all the bankrupt stock or something.....

Sports Direct (the owners of sports world) also own the Karrimor brand and yes the price is cheap but then the quality is now a lot lower than it was. The shoes/boots really are only worth £20 - £25 (have looked at them several times but none of them suitable for longish distence walking maybe 5 - 10 miles at a time tops.) or so anyway and would not pay much attention to the £70 price tag they put on them because only a fool would buy them at that price.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Sports Direct do indeed own the Karrimor brand and a whole host of other brands. Their marketing ploy is to knock 70% or 80% off "RRP" and I must admit I have bought a few Karrimor items which are good value. I would never pay the RRP and to be honest these RRPs are really bumped up. They OWN the brands so they can "recommend" a price and then discount it! It's all very "MFI" if you know what I mean.

Some of the brands used to charge very high prices for the goods but since being acquired by Sports Direct the manufacturing quality has gone down a bit alongside the prices. It's a case of switching the manufacture abroad to get the prices really low. It is an irony that some of the heritage brands - Dunlop, Lonsdale, Karrimor etc. are what you would think are "BRITISH" through and through yet they are all made a long way from here. But if they were still made here you would not get them for the prices at which they now sell. Horses for courses.

I bought a Karrimor bag that is showing signs of wearing out after a few weeks of heavy transport but it was less than £5 so not complaints. Let's just say I would not recommend the brand for going up Everest but for the odd excursion it's good value for money.

Disappointed about this. I bought my son some of these thinking they were a bargain, fortunatley I bought him some proper hiking boots earlier in the year.
My son is 15 and has size 10 feet so choice is very limited. I managed to get his school shoes in the clarkes sale for £23 but shops dont seem to have much stock of the bigger sizes

Agree 100% - Karrimor used to be a decent brand but quality has plumetted since the buyout - no way these shoes are ever worth £70 and they have been less than £20 for over a year now. I bought a pair around a year ago but they are not great - I have Salomons which are way more comfortable. Other good brands are Meindl and Merrell, Berghaus also do similar shoes. Although you will be unlikely to pick up any of these brands for under £20 - more like £40 or £50 per pair, but they should last longer and be more comfortable than the Karrimors - you get what you pay for. ? I'm a size 10, it's one of the most widely supplied shoe sizes.

I buy these shoes for work in Blacks sale, the kids and womens shoes are often reduced to £7.99. The Peter Storm shoes in particular are great, the rubberized toes are really boy/tomboy proof and way tougher than anything Clarks do.
I buy several pairs in the sale, the next size or 2 up.

If you want good walking shoes for a bargain price, look out at TK Maxx for either Zamberlan (for good traditional walking boots) which sell for around £35 here but £100+ in specialist walking shops. I've hiked 30+ miles in a day with these.

Also Salomon boots and shoes are very good and can be found in Blacks sales and at TK Maxx if you're lucky.

    Hope this helps someone.
