Query: Updating Ovi Map Data on Nokia E72

Hi there,

I'd be grateful for any info on this, as it's proving very hard to find anything concrete.

I am registered blind and have successfully used a Nokia E72 with a dedicated GPS receiver as my navigation aid of choice for the last 3 years. As I don't use the device for anything else I've not really kept up with what's going on at Nokia other than the obvious partnership with Microsoft etc.

I'm wondering if the map data for Ovi Maps is still being updated and if not, is there any other solution for the E72 that I can use or is it a case of selling it and moving to something else for good? I'd rather not do this as I see many advantages to having a standalone navigation aid.

Every time I try to update the maps using Ovi Suite the application seems to hang on connecting to the server and goes no further.

I don't know.

I updated the maps on my Nokia X6 maybe 3 to 6 months ago, but now when I check I have the same thing you have, or a pop-up which says update failed or download failed.

Let's hope it's a temporary issue. A Google search suggests that people have had this problem at intervals over the last 3 or 4 years, without any concentration recently (so far).
