New phone and broadband options

Hi

I am just about to move in to a new flat (rented) and wondered about phone and broadband

I currently live with my folks who are with Sky for the lot (TV, BB, Phone) and it is good I use it alot for PS3 online gaming.

I have Sky sorted for TV and was going to get them to sort out the BB and Phone

But have been doing some comparisons and there are cheaper options for me looking at comparison sites (for example Primus Saver, EE, Plus Net, Talk Talk to name a few)

The other thing I have noticed is there is a phone line already, but when I connect a phone it is dead.

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this so any help on the actual line being dead and what I need to do, and also any recommendations for BB and phone would be excellent

BB:
Sky On Demand
PS3 online gaming
I work from home a lot
Occasional music/movie download

Phone:
Very rare if ever as I will use my mobile
