Video going too fast?

I've converted a few videos, using Media Espresso, to MPEG2.
However, when I play them from a memory card, through my DVD player, they seem to be running a shade fast.
Not so fast that they sound like an LP played at 45 rpm (apologies to those FMs who are too young to know what an LP is
), but fast enough to be noticeable.
Will changing the frame rate slow it down and, if so, should I increase or decrease the frame rate?

Are the conversion settings correct? Does it have to be MPEG2? Try using a diff container if you can and see if problem persists. What are you converting from?0

Are the conversion settings correct?
I think so.
Current settings are
Video:
Format: MPEG-2
Resolution: 720x480
Aspect ratio: 4:3
Bitrate: 6Mbps
Frame rate: 24fps
Audio:
Format: Dolby Digital
Sampling rate: 44.1KHz
Bitrate: 128KbpsDoes it have to be MPEG2?
Nothing else seems to play on the DVD player. What are you converting from?
MP4.0 -
NTSC was 24fps, PAL is 25fps. Would that be enough to account for the difference?
If so, and if your DVD player is so poor that it can't distinguish between the two, and so poor it can't play any other format, I'd be throwing it away and buying something better.
Adding an extra level of conversion from whatever's in the mp4 container to mpeg-2 isn't going to result in a pleasant viewing experience anyway.0
