You can't do a transfer in online banking in the US to a recipient in pounds, just like UK customers can't go online and set up a dollar bank transfer to the US.....

I suggest that you take payment upfront from this person in future - this is of course assuming you ever do manage to extract the money out of her.
She is lying. She can make international money transfers and you dont need to do something so primitive as FedExing a cheque, that's ridiculous. If she can manage a chargeback, she can manage a straight forward cash transfer or SWIFT. Geez, she could send it western union for heavens sake.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
