Raising a cheque in Euros

Hi
I need to raise a cheque in euros to act as a deposit for a holiday rental we are staying at in France.
Can anyone advise a completitivly prices way of doing this or is just try my bank (Santander or Halifax)
As its for a deposit it is almost certainly going to end up ripped up. Will I have to prepay my bank to write this or would it only be debited after being cashed (as a standard cheque)
My father in law has Irish accounts. Could a Irish Euro cheque be cashed in france?
Thanks
Ben

Pretty sure you can not use Irish cheque in France- even if it is in the same currency.
You can send a bank transfer- you need IBAN & BIC (I think that's the second one required)- not a/c number & branch code. Order from Halifax: in branch: £19.50, online £9.50.
You might be able to write a UK cheque if they will accept.
or payment by credit card?- commission free with Halifax Clarity card
Don't know if that helps!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
