Java Platform SE Update notification: genuine or scam?

Hi there,
For the last three days I've been getting a notification popping up in the taskbar:
"Software not up-to-date. Your old Java Platform SE Software should be updated to version 11.0.2.132. Click to update."
I'm suspicious that this is malware, but MalwareBytes has not flagged it up. When I go to All Programs/Java/Check for updates I am told that my Java is already up to date.
My system is Windows 7 32bit, with Microsoft Security Essentials.
Could someone please explain why I'm getting this notification, and how to get rid of it?

It's most likely genuine.
If you check in Task Manager do you have a jusched.exe process running?0 -
Except that the latest java version is only se 7 update 51 or se 8.0

Get Java from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html
Windows x86 Offline 29.67 MB jre-8-windows-i586.exe0 -
Java is a bit of a security risk. Do you know if you have any applications that require it? If not, it might be best to uninstall it... (just a thought).0

Yes, jusched.exe is running.
I'm suspicious because the taskbar notification doesn't have the normal Java icon. The 'click here to update' doesn't give a weblink when I hover over it. Also, if I try to update by going to All Programs/Java/Check for updates I'm told I already have the latest version. I have version 7 update 51.0 -
Using Firefox?
Type about:addons into the address bar and go to plugins
You'll see your currently installed java plugin listed there.
Probably 10.51.2.13
Which is why you're being prompted to update....0 -
chrome://plugins typed into chrome's omnibox will give you the same info.0
