nationwideepc.com - anyone used them?

Hi, I'm looking for a fixed price domestic EPC and nationwideepc.com keeps cropping up in searches. They seem legitimate, but I'm always a bit cautious when they request payment up-front.
Has anyone used them that can provide feedback?
Alternatively, are there any others that anyone would recommend? Ideally I'd like to get something for £50 or less (inc VAT).
Thanks in advance.

best to go to epc register here if you put in your postcode it will come up with assessors near you with their distance from your postcode and just give a couple a call.
If you use nationwideepc they will just do the exact same thing and take a cut so you may as-well just go direct to an assessor."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
I had previously tried to find some local ones but they were all more expensive. I understand that Nationwide are just working as an "agent" but I was attracted to the fixed price.
Anyway, I didn't realise I could search the register myself so I'll follow your advice. Thanks for responding.0 -
Always worth double-checking the register as if you've bought your house in the last few years, it may well have an EPC for it already!
No need to get a new one done if that's the case and you're selling. You might want to if you've made changes that would affect the rating (e.g. new boiler/insulation).0 -
Thanks for the reply, the register has already confirmed there is no EPC for my property. Cheapest quote so far is £75+VAT0

If something sounds too good to be true...
More than £25 cheaper than the cheapest you can find, you can't find much info about them and they want payment upfront? I'd be strongly inclined not to use them, or if you do risk it, pay by credit card, so you can do a charge back if they don't actually carry out the services you are contracting them for.0 -
You should hopefully be able to find someone to do it for around £45, unless you have a large house or in a rural area and you'd expect to pay more."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0

That's what I thought. I'm just surprised they manage to get so high in the Google rankings when nobody's heard of them.captainhindsight wrote: »You should hopefully be able to find someone to do it for around £45, unless you have a large house or in a rural area and you'd expect to pay more.
The property is an average sized house in town and the estate agent also said around £45. I'll keep ringing around, there seem to be tons of assessors in the area.0 -
Yes, we used them. They sent someone round who operates in our area.
Had no problems whatsoever. £45 I think it was.0
