natwest are only liable for the advice given by them. Remember you are not complaining about the PPI. You are complaining about the advice given. So, who gave you the advice. Was it Natwest or was it the intermediary?
When was this? (this is important as most intermediaries were not regulated prior to Jan 2005).
it is also worth looking at your complaint reason. Most MPPI complaints are rejected. Most adviser related complaints are rejected. Advised cases account for under 1% of PPI cases at the FOS. So, you are making a complaint that is statistically more likely to fail. So, what are your reasons for complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Are you sure ANYBODY sold you PPI?
If the mortgage was arranged by a broker then all the insurances are usually arranged by the broker as well. So Natwest may not know know if you had PPI or not, all they can do is direct you to the broker.
Which firm did you first approach to arrange your mortgage?0 -

Whilst that is a good reason with loan and credit card PPI, it doesn't have the same success with MPPI. The FOS have rejected complaints on that basis as mortgages are a long term debt with serious lifestyle changing consequences if it goes unpaid.it was taken out 1992 and it looks like it was by a broker he made out he was working for nat west.
That is 13 years prior to regulation and 22 years prior to today.
Some of the banks did employ staff that actually worked for a subsidiary company within their branches. These staff could put mortgages with other lenders and some could place insurance with out companies and not the own in-house product.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
