Bank have put money in Account without my permission

Hi, I have been following the guidelines to reclaim my Bank Charges from the Halifax. I recieved a letter originally saying that they did not accept my claim. So I then sent the next letter, stating that I would take them to court. I got a phone call to say, that rather than getting a response within 2wks, it would probably be approximately 6wks, due to the volume of people doing the same as myself. Yesterday, I went online to check my Bank Account, to find that the Halifax has deposited just under half of what I was reclaiming, into my account, without any communication to tell me that they were doing this.
I do not want to accept this payment, as I would rather have at least 75% of my charges back. But looking on the website, I have not found any information on what to do now. Is there anyone out there who has had the same experience, and preferably with the Halifax, who could give me some advice before I contact the Bank please??
I look forward to hearing from someone sooooooooooooon pls

Write them a letter saying you accept it as part payment but without prejudice & that you will continue through the courts or the FO for the full amount. If you arent bothered for the interest then I would contact the FO, going the court routes is quite a long & drawn out procedure, however if you arent short of cash claim for the interest aswell. Courts award interest, the FO wont.
Hope this helps

Hi Gareth,
Thanks for that. I think I shall do as you suggested and forget about the interest, and go to the FO. Do I go on their website and fill in the form that they have? Di I then send the letter to the Halifax, telling them that I accept as part payment and that I am taking it to the FO?
Sorry to ask you so many questions!!:o
