Get the tech pack £7.50 a month. Reduce your overdraft to £200 as you'll get that interest free with the pack and also get your mobile phone and gadget insurance too.
  • I chose an account that doesn't permit overdrafts, so no danger of stumbling into OD.

The new overdraft fees are for all accounts with overdrafts, even the ones with packs. :(

You have the best part of 70 days to come up with the money. Got anything to sell? Can you restructure, i.e move money from a 0% card for instance - MBNA have this facility.

I don't have a credit card and I don't earn enough to be accepted for one. I've run out of things to sell, I sold my big items last year to put towards paying off debts. :(

Then the obvious answer would be to earn more. Get a paper round to do before work, or get a Saturday job in a shop, garden centre etc.

Also, it's probably time to look at your spending again. Do you drink or smoke? If so, stop those. Don't go out for a while, and cut back on the cost of food.

But OP is on JSA - so wouldn't they be no better off with a paper round etc?

Then the best solution would be for them to start working. If they are holding out for certaiin kinnds of jobs, they need to give that up, and take whatever they can find.

Oh gosh well done, I bet the OP hasn't thought of that! It's that simple, of course.
  • Thanks hohum and stevemLS :)

BillJones, if getting a job was that easy I would have done it already. I don't have any vices that cost money, I don't have a large expenditure. The largest expenditure I do have is my car, but if I got rid of it I wouldn't be able to get to the job centre to sign or the post office to post applications as I live out in the !!!! of nowhere. If you have a job for me that would earn me more than £71.70 a week, I will take it - so long as it doesn't require any job experience over the last 4 years (which is how long I've been unemployed).

Fulltime shop work would easily earn you over £71.70 per week. If you have a car you could find one in a town near you.

I know it seems impossible. YOU can clear it, in the time you have, if you really focus. Even the small pennies add up. DVD's, books, old clothes. Value food. It sucks, but it isnt forever. ANY job will do. Also, try posting you SOA so we can see if there is anything you can cut down on.
