The postage costs went up at the end of March too and ebay take 10% of the postage charge so you need to factor that in the cost aswell. Ebay and the PO are shooting themselves in the foot as it is really not worth buying or selling on there so much anymore.

I didn't realise ebay take 10% of the postal costs  that's wrong. I must admit I don't use ebay anymore, not since they tried to shaft me and cost me £500  but that's a whole other story. Car boot sales are a waste of time, so I don't sell as much but also I'm not buying as much too :T I have sold things through preloved and that is ok

I've had to reprice all my postage on my etsy store as large letters went up from 90p to 93p, but a small package to the US now costs £3.80 whereas a month ago it cost £3.20! When I send bulkier items like cufflinks it's just insane.

No more UUs yet but my Avene moisturiser is cut open and likely to go tonight/tomorrow.

    Hello!

I used to post to and follow this thread. I loved it a great deal but I stopped due to illness. (I couldn't really do anything for a while). It doesn't feel like I stopped for that long but I've found that I last posted in Nov 2012!

Welcome back! Don't think we don't remember you. (That is, those of us who have been 'using up' all that very long length of time! :o )

Right ladies, another boring UU for me: Sensodyne Pronamel Toothpaste. WIBA? Alas, the dentist insists, so another one out of the stash it is for me.

Keep well and keep using up! :D

Another bottle standing on its head - Body Shop satsuma body lotion, now I'm not a fan of orange flavoured things in general but quite liked this. Bought it in the church thrift shop, new and only 30p :D so WBA (at that price :rotfl:)

  • Welcome back to the thread willowbee and happy birthday for yesterday nillionaire, sounds like you got yourself some nice birthday treats :D

It has only taken me to the 28th of the month but I have finally caught up with this month's thread!!! I think you ladies have been talking more than normal this month :rotfl:

Actually I have only managed to catch up because I have started back doing the 5:2 diet thing today and sitting with the laptop on my knee is stopping me going to the kitchen and eating biscuits!

I have had a cold turkey month for April and have managed to buy absolutely nothing :A although I have no dry shampoo or toner in my cupboards so will have to go shopping for them pretty soon.

I have had a pitiful UU rate recently, I think it's only been 3 for the whole month.

Clinique DDM GWP size, wouldn't buy this as I don't rate it much but am happy to use a GWP freebie.
Clinique eye cream GWP size, this was clearly old and had gone a weird texture so UU as foot cream. WNBA as I am sure I can find a more MSE foot cream!
L'Occitane Ruban d'orange shower gel - from QVC autodelivery which is the cause of my shower gel stash, they just kept sending them faster than I could use them! Didn't smell of much even when it was new, still have a quarter of the body lotion to finish off next month.

I'll try to keep up with the thread now!

So jealous Dolly, I feel like I'm not spending that much, and it's only when I add everything up that I realise :/

does anyone here have any tips for cystic acne? my skin had been doing so well, and then bang, three cystic spots on my chin in one weekend :(
it sounds really vain but it just makes me want to stay in the house as it looks so awful xx

Tbh i feel a bit sick now I've typed it all, I don't understand why I keep buying more?

I can't speak for you, obviously (although if you would like to enter in to some kind of Monica and Rachel type arrangement where I make your decisions, well I don't think I could take the pressure) but I am the most creative accountant when it comes to my purchases. 'But I got X off' or 'it came with X free gifts' are mainstays for me. I can justify anything if I really put my mind to it.

Avoiding temptation is a huge thing for me as well, seeing how fabulous other people think products are just makes me want to buy them. I'm looking at my stash list a lot at the moment, to remind me I don't need more, or how long until it will get used.
  • I'm fairly new at the 'no buying unnecessary toiletries challenge', but one thing that helps me is keeping a running tally of how much I would've spent. We have 4 students in the house and are trying to start up a business and not go into debt, and I am also trying to save for a last big holiday with the kids who will all be going off to uni in the near future. When out and about tempted, I add up the prices of what I would've bought to a tally on my phone. If I can walk away without buying the tally stays. It's very motivating seeing how much you are saving yourself.

IN: Optrex eye mist - bit of a freebie, but was intending to get something similar, so a well timed freebie. Found the eye mists are absolute god-sends in hayfever season. May need to stop wearing mascara for a few weeks though...
