Andriod phone slipped into Water!

Hi Folks,

My friend's cheap andriod phone slipped into water few weeks ago. Someone suggested we put the phone into a dry rice to dry it up which we have done yet still not powering up.

What can we do?

Thanks

Kay

If it was on when it was dunked then odds on it got zapped, sorry. If it was off then your chances improve. Take the battery and SIM out, leave the cover off so air can circulate and put the phone in a warm place inside a PAPER bag of rice. the moisture inside should leach out into the rice. Needs a couple of days there to work, if it's going to. If it wasn't plain water, but tea or coffee with sugar in then you're stuffed, the sugar leaves a conductive sticky residue on the circuit board.

    Really?

    According to http://scifun.chem.wisc.edu/HOMEEXPTS/CondTester/SolutionConductivity.htm:

"Not all substances are made up of ions. Some are mode of uncharged particles called molecules. Sugar is such a substance. When sugar is dissolved in water, the solution does not conduct electricity, because there are no ions in the solution."
