Connecting my tv to internet ? Help please

Bought hitachi tv yesterday with apps (facebook,skype,etc).
It is showing as connected but when I don't know how to get to facebook etc.I press the internet button but it says not connected,but when i go to settings it says connected.I know it is probably something simple but i am baffled.:mad:

son just got further than me .Got it connected ,get to terms and conditions ,says to click ok but nothing happens ,just stuck on terms and conditions page

Are you trying to connect using an ethernet cable or has it got wifi built in?
If it's wifi you'll have to enter your router's wifi passcode at some point.

We are using recomended dongle.It is saying connected and as i say it gets as far as terms and conditions and says click ok ,so suggests everything is ok .However when we click the ok button nothing happens .It is not the remote control because it is working fine everywhere apart from on this page.Password etc have been entered.
