I was talking about my plan when I was referring to mistakes. Also I never implied that you made a mistake!0 -
mine has just matured, but have decided rather than downgrade it to try in a year, have just printed and posted the online form to close the account and will see what next year brings i.e if they still have it available and allow me a new one.
I've got no need for the account in the interim as have several current accounts, so rather than leave it dormant may as well close it and then see.
It will be good if they do have it and let me open a new one as that will time in nicely for when the yorkshire bank account matures lol, so could send the same money back to them (as the money has gone from nationwide to yorkshire).
But like anything, these accounts are good whilst they last, before the banks tighten the loopholes to prevent them being used as savings accounts.
That said i am keeping the card reader machines though and not chucking them out as it was a nightmare trying to get one sent to me in the start due to issues with them (though ended up with three of them!!)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
If you qualify for the Coop, Halifax or First Direct switch offers, you can make some extra money from your 12 months old FlexDirect now. Or you could chance it and wait for some other offers to appear, e.g. from Virgin who surely (?) must be offering a current account soon and surely (?) will offer a monetary incentive for people to join.0

I've already switched to Coop-waiting for them to pay up in the next month or so!
I'm waiting till First Direct raise their offer to £125 again!
I'll apply for Halifax after Coop pays up and I have a 'spare account' that is ready to switch!0 -

Got a reply to my query:
Dear Member,
Thank you for your message.
Regrettably we are unable to advise online as to whether this would be possible. To do this please book in to an appointment in branch with a financial advisor, who will be able to advise as to which account is best for your needs, and how you might go about getting that account.
I apologise that I could not be of further assistance today.
Kind regards..
Ok, the department that my message ended up with couldn't answer the question but what useless advice that followed. Sending another message and will call them at some point.0 -
Doesn't condition 1.4 (page 15) answer your (and the OP's) question?Got a reply to my query:
