Hi All
I dont know if this is the right place to post this, I mowed the garden on the weekend, the grass has not been cut in last 1 year I have stayed there, it was green but overgrown but after I have mowed it down its all yellow, is there anything I need to put in the lawn to make it look good and green again or will it just grow back green on its own.

It'll go green by itself.
When you let it get really long, the bottom of the leaves get little sun, and they go yellow. When you cut it you get just the yellow bits remaining. When the sun gets on them, they'll quickly go green again so they can photosynthesise more efficiently.
Don't wait so long to cut it next time.0 -
S'right. Regular cutting is best. Leave it long and shave it off, and it'll die back if there's a drought. As it is, it'll recover in a week or so. Cut it again in a bit over a week, set the mower to the highest setting and reduce the height slowly over a month or so.
A darn good rake with a lawn rake may make a mess in the short time, but will smarten it up in the longer term.0 -
Hi
Thank you so much for your reply. I will mow it again next week as last bit of garden is still left. How regularly should I be mowing the lawn in summers.
Thanks in advance.

The faster it grows, the quicker you'll have to mow!
Just keep an eye on the length, more than a few inches and it's going to start going yellow at the bottom again.0
