Old Style Daily Thread Monday 31st March

Time_to_face_the_music

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Really late so a true hi and fly from me.
Weather was gorgeous over the weekend but it's dark this morning with the clock change.
Fed up because weight has gone in wrong direction this week, 0.5 kg on. I did think I had been good but .........

Morning all
Dry here so far, lovely weekend weather wise & loads of washing dried on the line.
I have enough chocolates to last me 6 months & I'll probably eat them all this week, lol.
Fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa & so have I hubby's not at work today as he's working 3 Saturdays in a row.
I cooked lamb shanks for lunch y'day & filled the oven up & cooked, beef & mushroom casserole, liver & bacon & a batch of choc chip cookies, that will tide us over for a few days.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning Everyone
Off to work in my car this morning that has been scrubbed on the inside to within an inch of it's life. Keep making trips to the tip but it was getting difficult to tell which was the skip! I actually can't remember the last time it was cleaned inside (hangs head in shame).
Found my sunglasses though!!
Whilst I was at the tip I picked up a mirror that someone left, I will paint that for my bedroom.
Heard from DS2 yesterday, he was at the Malaysian Grand Prix. He got himself into a corporate box and went for a walk around the pit lane, although he was asked to leave! They only had ordinary tickets but decided to smile and carry on through to the good bit out of the rain. He is something else, I wouldn't have the nerve to do that!
The house is reasonably clean and tidy from my weekends efforts. DDs new mattress (memory foam) has failed to get to its proper shape so I took photos and went into the shop I bought it from to tell them, they are going to send someone with a new one today and remove the damaged one. Good service.
Hope you all have a good week, last week before the holidays! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, very cloudy and overcast but no rain or wind.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner yesterday afternoon was a frozen chicken joint, new potatoes, veg and gravy. Wasn’t the normal frozen joint I buy and DH didn’t eat hardly any of it and said it was “tasteless”. I ate mine, it was ok although not as nice as the other brand I buy – so won’t buy it again. Boys bought me flowers and a bottle of wine for Mothers Day. Wine is in the fridge – may have that tonight with dinner – as today will be a manic Monday due to the start of the month and start of the council tax year!
The weekend was excellent, the event went far better than we could ever have dreamt and DH has already been asked that the event is held again next year. We were taken out for dinner on Saturday night as a thank you – the whole weekend was lovely and we had lots of laughs and good company too.
My mood has been good all weekend – mainly because we were so busy and concentrating on the event going well there wasn’t time to think about anything else. Have 1 thing in the back of my mind that has cropped up but I’m already in the process of dealing with that, if I’m able to sort it the way I hope that should be sorted within the next couple of weeks.
Keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
I had a lovely weekend, we went shopping in Cambridge yesterday. It's been ages since I went with DD, we always have such a good time. Then she and DH made the evening meal. The only downside was when we took her and BF to the train someone had been killed a little further down the line so they would have been delayed over an hour. We took them to Stevenage in the end because the Cambridge line was working ok.
DS and GF are in Rome, I hope they have a lovely time, they work so hard they deserve it.
Plans for today - swimming and making a muslin of the tunic I want to make. It won't actually be of muslin, I've got some cotton I got from IKEA at £1 a metre last year so I shall use that.
Have a good day all.0 -

Morning all,
Looks a bit grey out.I was hoping to get some washing out but I'll see what it's like after the dog walk.I'm going to have a big tidy today, both DGC stayed overnight on Friday and I think every room is a mess .We did some cardmaking for Mothers Day too,DGD likes snipping paper & using glitter glue ,DS2 channeled into his artistic side and made DGSs.I got some nice flowers and cards off both DSons.Couldnt help hankering back to the days when my Mum and MIL were still with us :A,in a good way though.DH treated me to anAldi steak, very nice too.I cooked it though ,he tends to overcook it so it ends up tough
I got a few ys meat bargains yesterday,so going to cook those today and freeze. Also got some clothes from the bay of E,more jeans and stuff,so could do with clearing out a few things.
Anyway-hope you all have a nice day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning
No sun today but it's family warm.
Off to walk Luna shortly. Then off to Aldi to get the shopping before housework begins.
Need to sort out and book our summer holiday and also need to get a roofer out to look at some guttering on our garage roof. Wood is rotten so needs replacing. Only downside is it's a side of garage that forms boundary with someone else's garden so access is going to be a PITA.
Not sure about tea haven't thought that far ahead.
Hugs and spoons all round. Sounds like lots of people had a lovely day yesterdayI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good Morning chums a bright if misty morning here in north Kent.had a great day with both my DDs spoiling me dreadfully
:):)
Hope everyone had as good a day as I did
Only this week then the boys break up for Easter and we are already looking at things to do in Kent (if the weather is kind )They are all working out a list of things and we will work through them and see what we can come up with.
I may take them to Sheffield park and onto the Bluebell railway for a day out I haven't been there for years. Then there is also a day maybe to Hastings which always goes down well.I like to try to get them out and about if I can as it gives them a good dose of fresh air and gets them away from sitting staring at a screen all day:):).I always think as children are organised at school suddenly not having to do anything is great for a couple of days then boredom sets in and squabbling starts. So I use diversionary tactics
:):) a trip out ,even if its only to the local country park with a football usually works well, sneeky Granny that's me
:):)
Right enough blethering time to get a wriggle on as I want to catch up on lots of chores so from next week I can be a full on entertainments manager for my four grandsons:):)
Have a great day what ever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Scratch all plans. Upper muscle in back feels like it's snagged on a rib  Hurts just breathing  no way can I drive, it's hard enough bending down to feed Luna.
So all plans out of the window and a day of shuffling about like a geriatricI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
