Most of your weight should be taken by the ladder, not the arms. Have you cut the ladder too short?. On mine the ladder can be loosened and slid up and down the hatch a few inches.

Apologies, that's a poor description on my part... yeah the arms set the point that the hatch locks at when it is open, they also support any forward weight/movement on the ladder as the ladder is attached to the hatch....I think the hatch effectively functions as a wall.

Erm the ladder fits fine for one arm and not for the other, so in other words we cut it based on how it hung from one arm because the other one was in effect not taking any weight.

I've spoken to Youngman and the person I spoke to said the two pre-drilled holes should be the same distance from the edge, so I think because they is a 2" differenct the hatch has only been supported by one arm instead of two.

Youngman have been very helpful so far; I'll see if we can sort it later and if not youngman have offered a new hatch or a whole new hatch and ladder etc if we can't sort it.

Probs just take the hatch if we cannot sort it, as it is easy enough for us to drill a hole into the frame.
