You should have contents insurance too. I currently pay about £120 for that a year for the place I rent. I got it through a cashback website too so more money back in my pocket0

Are energy bill estimates on the EPC?0

This may be a little out of date because dates back a couple of years (and energy costs will have gone up).
But based on at the time myself a single person living in a 2 bedroom flat;
Rent: £650
Council tax: £114
Phone line & Broadband: £27
Tv license: £12.43
Contents insurance: £16.50
Water: £25
Gas & Electric: £56
Per month.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16

living as a single person in a 2 bed terrace, my monthly costs are:
Council tax: £75 (actually £91 for 10 months, figure is after the single person discount)
Gas & electricity £48
Water £44 (unmetered. Would be a lot less if metered)
TV,Phone & Broadband £39
Insurance £15 (estimated as mine is combined Buildings and Contents)
Depending on what type of heating you have and how much you use it, your Gas/Electricity costs might be higher - I don't use my heating much!
you will be able to get the council tax figure from your local council's website - you may have to search twice, once to find out what band the flat is in and a second time to find what this year's rates are.

2 of us in a small, one-bed house, living fairly frugally:
water - 25, but we're in credit, so we reckon more like 15 pcm once it's all refunded
elec- 30 pcm in summer or 50 Oct-Apr (with heating)
broadband/phone - 3.25 a month, plus maybe 150 upfront for a year's landline(?)
council tax - 105 pcm
(no TV)0 -
Thank you all so much this has helped me figure it out a lot

1 bed is almost certainly Band A council tax with 25 % discount for single occupancy. Check your local council for the amount
My last 1 bed flat was band C and £142pm (before discount).
I pay £4.99pm for my broadband and paid 12months line rental up front. Can't remember cost. With plusnet.0 -
if you look at the EPC it will give estimated energy usage/bills based on a avergae use, so its not going to be 100% correct to what you will use but is a good indicator especially if you are comparing different homes"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0

I pay as a single person in a rented 2 bedroom semi detached house the following:
Council Tax: 98 a month, 10 months rather than 12
Water: 56 a month
Gas & Electric: 60 a month
Contents insurance: 9.10 a month
Rent: 650 a month
Landline, Broadband, Mobile: around 100 a month
I do have higher telecoms and gas/electric cost as I work from home.
Hope this helps?LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015
