Caravan Insurance
Hello
We've just bought a caravan and was wondering if anyone could tell us where the best place to get caravan insurance is and just about anything else about it please. i.e. what is the best sort of policy to have, what do we have to have, whose name should the insurance be in etc etc etc
Thank you

I self insure mine but friends recommend the caravan club one as being good and reasonably priced0

Insurance can be expensive but lots of people do use caravan club.
Another issue to look out for is breakdown recovery. A lot of policies won't recover a caravan. Again caravan club do their own which will cover you.0 -
Caravan Talk, can be a great source of information, with plenty of help, and advice from caravan owners. Personally we use Camping and Caravan Club insurance, which has provided great cover.

We are with the NFU, very friendly, fast phone response and having recently written off the caravan I had a decent cheque off them within three weeks without having to haggle.0

We use the Caravan Club. No complaints at all, very helpful and professional people. Now that the van is 12 years old, it's fairly cheap, too - about £80 at last renewal. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

Hi,
Our static mobile home was damaged on 19 December last when the roof of an adjacent mobile (that was approx 6 months old) blew off and damaged our roof.
The Park owners, with whom we are covered have a blanket insurance with Compass Insurance. They were seeking to have the mobile written off; presuming that we would put the damages (£7,000) towards a new mobile.
We have since identified and have been on contact with a company who can repair the damage for less (£5,450) than the cost of writing off the mobile.
In lapse of any contact from the Insurers, we contacted them via telephone and spoke to the Accessor. He explained that we had two options either accept the write off damages and relinquish ownership of the mobile to them or negotiate with the Park owners with the view of purchasing a new mobile.
I would have thought if the repair costs were less than the write off monies the insurance company would consider this a more economic conclusion.
I would be obliged if anyone could advice on our best way forward.
Kindest Regards,0 -
I think if the repair cost is more than 75% of the value of the item, an insurance company will choose to write it off.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
