Worried about my ParkingEye Parking charge!

Hi everyone, i decided it was time i signed up to this site as my paranoia was getting the best of me!
On 18th December 2013 I received a letter from ParkingEye, stating i was getting charged £100 for parking in what i assumed and everyone i know assumed was a Blockbusters carpark for exactly 30minutes on 29th November 2013. If i payed by 19th December it would be a discounted charge of £60 (Note: i received the letter 1 day before the "discounted" date). The Car in question is owned by my mother so ofcourse the letter was addressed to her, needless to say she wasn't happy getting a nice big Parking Charge through the door. With my mother not being able to drive in the months running up to christmas it was obvious I was the only other person who could of been there at that time (i do recall being there on that date, but as stated above, i have always assumed it was a carpark for patrons of blockbusters).
Now with a Parking charge over my head and a less than happy mother, i got very worried and decided to take a photo of the letter and post it on my Facebook to see if anyone has received a similar letter or could give me advice on what to do. Within minutes i had countless comments saying that ParkingEye are scammers and to just ignore it, which i did!
Fast-forwarding to 15th January 2014 i received a second letter saying that "The 29 days have now passed and the amount now payable is £100.00, this payment is required within 14 days to avoid further action" it also went on to say if ignored, further action may be taken such as the instruction of solicitors to secure immediate payment or the issuing of court proceedings which could incur further costs. This letter worried me and ofcourse my mother, again i uploaded a photo of the letter and straight away was told to "just ignore it!" .
At this point i was ready to pay just to save all the worries and hassle (and to also get my mother of my back lol), but i decided against my better judgement and listen to my friends and just ignore it. (Since receiving the second letter the Blockbusters store has closed)
Its now 30th March 2014 and i haven't received another letter (fingers crossed!), but its constantly playing on my mind and i just need to find out from someone who knows exactly what they are talking about if i have made the correct decision to ignore...?
I would just like to add i am not very knowledgable when it comes to fines/courts/solicitors, so if it was to be taken further i wouldn't have a clue what to do! Lol.
Thankyou in advance for any help/advice given!

Unfortunately ParkingEye are quite litigious at the moment. It is surprising that they have not yet issued any legal proceedings. The advice to ignore has been redundant since October 2012.
Wait to see what others think, but your mother could write to ParkingEye and identify you as the driver. This will then restart the clock and you can appeal the charge using the templates on this forum.0 -
Okay get your mum to write a letter to them naming you as the driver, this discharges her liability and allows you to deal with this. If you are in England or Wales you could use popla if they reject
Dear Parking Eye
I am the registered keeper of xxxxx , and am in receipt of your parking invoice xxxxxx. I deny all liability to your company as I was not responsible for the vehicle on this day. Please note the person below was responsible for the vehicle
Name
Address
This now discharges any liability under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, and this matter is now closed. Please note that any spurious claims by your company will be defended in full.
This letter has proof of postage from the post office.

Thankyou both! I will notify my mum as soon as she returns home.

Yes you would stand a chance if you follow the advice on here.
POPLA is an appeals service for matters relating to parking on private land. The first port of call is to appeal to ParkingEye, if they reject your appeal they will give you a reference number which means that you can appeal to them. This forum has a 100% win rate at POPLA.0 -
Yes, but they must first write to you, that makes sure your mum is out of the picture, and guarantees she will never hear these scum again. I suggest you read the thread below, which pretty much answers most of your questions.

100% you will win at POPLA once you've read up on what it is all about, as long as you follow our template appeal. But you wait first, until your own PCN arrives.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
