A simple question
Do Sky HD boxes need connecting to a router to ensure that the firmware is updated or do they get the update Over The Air ?

    Sky use OTA
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

No but why would you not want to, you are missing out on the Catch up players, enhanced search, movie and box sets library.
You don't need it connected to the telephone line if its connected to your router, soi you can order movies and check your account.

Nup and OTA updates are normally automatic. However you can force your Sky HD box to do a fw update:

    1) Switch off power at mains

    2) Whilst holding the 'backup' button on top of the box, switch on power and only let go of backup button when all 4 LEDs light up

    3) Go and make a cup of tea

    4) 10-15 mins later the box goes into standby

There is a new front end to the EPG coming soon, it looks like the Sky+ app for tablets.

Another good reason to connect your box to an interweb.

Used mine today and wondered why the screen had changed, but mine is the iPad app.

But "normal operation" will be unchanged ?
I assume that only access to CATCH UP programs will be changed ?

    Yes but why limit yourself?

I will have to get a 20 metre length of network cable or a wireless adapter (I assume that a normal USB adapter won't work ?)
