Garage Door

Hellow folks. coming to the site more and more now. Seems that whenever abit of money comes in hand, theres always something that happens to take it away!!!

Anyway, So my Garage door collapsed again yesterday. by collapsed I mean its an up and over type door and been iffy for a while as one of the steel clamps holding the spring snapped due to rust.

So need to get a new one. Ive been looking around. bearing in mind it needs to be cheap as chips. Cheapest ive seen is in Wickes. But I need installation with it as well. and Wickes website doesnt show how much for installation or how I could get a quote even.

Any tips on where I could get a garage door all in would be appreciated.

cheers

    Hi,
I have the same problem and done a rough fix myself.
There is someone in our area that can actually fix that part that has corroded. My parents had the same problem with their door as well and he fixed it a while ago for around 25/30 £
Just a thought if money was tight. Good Luck

Does it still lift up and down Ok, when the spring broke on my garage door it meant the door still lifted but wouldn't stay open. All i did was to get a strong prop of wood to put under and hold the door up whenever i opened it.

Where abouts? Im in Uxbridge, Greater London. Otherwise I might possibly look for someone locally to come and fix it....might work out cheaper

Door still opens and closes but its very difficult. The springs are still intact on both sides. Thought about a block or brick....might think about that if I can find one heavy enough.

There are people in most areas who make a living repairing garage doors. A quick Google should find one. If it cannot be repaired they will tell you.

if it rusted its steel, if its steel it can be welded generaly, in which case you just need someone with a welder to make up a plate to fit what you need.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
