Switch to Ovo

My switch took place on 19th March. I was asked for meter readings and gave both electricity and gas on 16th March. I have also done exactly the same for my parents on the exact same dates.

I have been following what was happening via MyOvo where it shows the registration process and both the gas and electricity symbols moving along the line. Everything seemed to happen as expected.

On 23rd March I noticed that MyOvo had updated and it now showed that my gas account had at least opened. However it was saying that they didn't supply my electricity at the moment and it was asking for electricity meter readings even though I had already supplied them. My parents' account is exactly the same so it's not just me.

Today it's still the same. Is it just that it's taking longer to verify the electricity meter readings or is this something I should be chasing?

    I would say call them, but it's unclear if that would void your "online only" discount.

    My switch to ovo is due 2nd April. I was planning on waiting until then to give my readings. What have others done? Readings a few days before or on the day?
  • I think it does take longer to switch the Electric. I swapped to OVO in February and noticed one took longer than the other.

    Everything went through fine by the date I was given and no problems at all up to now.

    I would hope not but who knows? I have now emailed them so we'll see what happens.

    I was asked for readings on the 16th with my switch date the 19th. It was only at that point that the submit button appeared on MyOvo - couldn't do it before then.

    According to Ovo it's the gas that takes longer. Watching the registration process, that seemed to be the case.
    Everything went through fine by the date I was given and no problems at all up to now.

    That's the problem though. Switch date was 19th March and electricity has still not transferred over. It's the same for my parents whose switch was the same date.

    Everything else has gone through properly and first payment has been taken when it was supposed to be.

    Worst company I have ever dealt with. Also they never reply to emails, I have sent 4 and still not had a reply.

    I sent an email on Saturday afternoon after they had shut - received a reply about 2 hours ago which doesn't seem too bad. I've also been receiving very quick updates via their Facebook page over the last 2 days so perhaps this is the best way to communicate.

    Everything is all sorted now. E.On have produced their final bill and as of today I can put in meter readings for both electricity and gas so everything appears to be up and running with Ovo.

    I have a suspicion that the reading I gave for electricity on 16th March didn't go through correctly although gas seems to have done. On the 23rd I was still being asked for a reading online for electricity and resubmitted it at that point.
