The People's Operator drop unlimited data, now 3gb
I only joined The People's Operator earlier this month - unlimited calls, texts and data for £14.99 a month. An email on Friday changes that:
Whether you use the data allowance is irrelevant - 3gb is no longer worth £14.99 a month which is no longer Amazing value.

Change to the mobile data on your TPO deal
To help us ensure the reliability and speed of mobile data access for everyone on our network, from the 12th of April we will set a monthly limit of 3GB on the amount of mobile data available on your TPO deal. This will not affect 98.5% of our customers - 3GB is more than ten times the UK average for mobile data usage* and you’ll still be able to get your email, browse the web, listen to music and download videos.
In the unlikely event that you do reach your monthly data allowance we will suspend your access to mobile data for the remainder of the month (your unlimited calls and texts will be unaffected). We will also send you an email to let you know we have done this. Your inclusive data allowance will be reset to 3GB on the first working day of the following month.
The price you pay remains amazing value at just £14.99 a month and the amount of calls and texts you receive remain completely unlimited.
If you have any questions relating to this change, please get in touch with us at help@thepeoplesoperator.com or call 500 from your TPO phone.
Yours sincerely,
Whether you use the data allowance is irrelevant - 3gb is no longer worth £14.99 a month which is no longer Amazing value.

Well that is okay then!
All these broadband and mobile companies need bringing up on false advertising charges and banned from using the term unlimited in advertising. Fair use or other policies in the small print are just weasel words - just say it is 3gb or whatever and be honest.

Unfortunately the Advertising standard people don't agree and hence these continue.
Its been to the ASA many times and they always reject it..0 -
This is just a consequence of demand outstripping supply and some people hogging all the bandwidth. It's nigh on impossible for any service , mobile or landline to provide unlimited bandwidth, data or speeds especially now people are trying to watch TV and video streaming.
It was fine when only a few were doing it but now YouView, backup TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc have all come on stream in the last year or so it's just overwhelming the networks and they are grinding to a halt. Unfortunately the services are coming on stream faster than the network providers can accommodate them, so the only answer is to limit the greedy ones until the networks can catch up or charge those who use it most a lot more than those who don't. A bit like electricity, gas and water, you end up paying for what you use - sounds fair to meNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
When these companies advertise on the basis of accessing movie streaming etc, I personally do not think it unreasonable that someone may actually want to use it for that purpose! It is not greedy to use a service that you are paying for?
The ASA appear as understanding of the English language and the term unlimited as these companies. As I said, just state the amount and there is no need for unlimited (which isn't).
