how do I get old credit card statements from Tesco bank and how far back can I ask for them to go?

I suspect they will charge you for paper copies - see the back of your statement to see if they advise you of this.

I am claiming ppi and I am trying to work out how much I am owed and would like to go back as far as possible0

You don't need the statements for that they will work it out for you.
If you really want the info then a SAR costing you £10 would be cheaper.0
