Advice needed please regarding 3 dependent children

Hi, basically my girlfriend has 2 children from another relationship and we have a child together as well.

I am going to move in with her, and will be acting fully dependable for all children/her.

My gf is unemployed, and I work 33 hours a week full time. I only made 11k last year, and at the minute make £220 a week which adds up to roughly the same.

Could anyone tell me what can of tax credit help I could be expected?

I used a calculator and it told me I could expect £70 houseing benefit, 197 child tax credit and working tax credit £51 all per week, this seems extremely high to me surly its wrong??

It's right.... 5 people and £538 a week income is about enough to pay the rent and support them without living in poverty.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • thanks very much guys on the form i put the rent down as £500 as thats what it will be!

It seems alot to me I was expecting maybe a total of 1500 a month including my wage, not near 2000
  • sounds about right
  • At the minute I live with my parents and am 28. I have worked full time since I was 16, would we be entitled to the housing benefit on our first house together?

It would depend on the LHA rate for your area and your income. You can run your details through a site like turn2us and it should give you an indication

She's a lucky lady to have found a good 'un like you.

Is she renting privately or is she a council tenant?

Hope you & your family are happy together x
  • Hi she rents private at minute and is on benefits. Our child is 5 though and my plans to save up for a mortage didnt happen, so we are going to move in together and rent private from her house or else a new house.
