Termination of apprenticeship
Comments

Back again... He got a 6month contract last week but got told on Friday that 350 temps are losing there jobs, probably him if it is a last in first out basis.
He is a temp employee on fixed term contract doing an apprenticeship which lasts 1 year, so he is7 month into it and being told he may not have a job at the end of it. Can't find a straight answer on the internet about whether this is allowed or not.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
My partner is a training advisor for a company who deliver apprenticeships. He says there is no requirement for the company to offer a permanent job at the end of an apprenticeship.Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0

What I mean is they are possibly going to terminate his apprenticeship even though he has 5month left to go.0

Apprentices have slightly better protection than 'normal' employees although it depends on the terms of his contract. I would seek some legal advice on this one, someone more qualified than me on here should be able to suggest where to go (in the nicest way of course!)0

Sadly apprentices can be hired and fired like anyone else. Nissan do not have to go through the entire apprenticeship, and can let any employee go at any time (within employment law/notice periods etc.!).
If it were through an external company, the TA would probably try to find another placement for the apprentice, but as it's all in-house it is unlikely Nissan would do this. The apprenticeship will just be terminated.
Sorry, I hope your husband finds something else if they do let him go.Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0
