exam expense

My daughter is 17 and in full time education. In order to continue with a higher level course in September she needs English and Maths at C. She is able to do one - English at college with her other course and I am tutoring her for the Maths at home. I asked her school that she left last year if she could return to resit Maths. They agreed and sent me an invoice for the exam entry, admin and a whopping £30 for invigilation (she will be sitting with all the Year 11 pupils) I have written but got nowhere with them. I need to enter her and so have paid reluctantly. As she is still of statutory school age can I claim back this expense. Hope someone can help

On what grounds would you claim it back, and using what legislation?
Usually college age students are offered a level 2 key skills course (equivalent to GCSE) instead of a GCSE - if you specifically want the GCSE course then you will pay for the exam/invigilation fee.
Perhaps contact the college and ask about the level 2 in numeracy and whether it is acceptable on the course to be taken later? They will have the best information on this.0 -
You need to remember that your daughter will be classed as an external canditate. As such the school has the right to charge fees for invigilation, admin etc. You have the right to accept and pay these charges or find an alternative exam venue that will accept your daughter at a cost that you are happy withThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
