Buying android app for son

My son has a Google Nexus 7 tablet and he wants to buy an app for it - he has the money but due to his age he doesn't have a credit card or any other kind of bank card so he asked me to pay for him (and he would reimburse me).
I thought this would be easy but it seems not (I could well be missing something obvious though so please shout if so).
I don't want to leave any footprint (like my credit card details) on his tablet but I can't see an obvious way to do this - if I use my CC then it seems I have to apply it to his Google Wallet (don't want to do this even though I can delete my card details afterwards).
Can I log in using my Google account? I don't want to mess up his tablet settings though.
I also thought maybe I could send him the money (once he's paid me
) via Paypal or some other email cash distribution mechanism, but I don't see an easy way to do so (and allow him to use the funds to buy the app).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Its probably best just to buy a google play voucher in a shop somewhere.0

Thanks - I see that Tesco sell them so I think that is what I will do!0

Also Google play store just got an update.
on the Android Device open up play store app
Swipe Right to access the menu and go to Settings.
Their is a new option "Require Password for Purchases" it's got 3 options:
"For all purchases through Google play on this device"
"Every 30 minutes"
"Never"
If the top one is selected he will need to enter the password every time he tries to buy something, so if he has not got it he can't buy items from the play store or in game!
Also vouchers is the easiest way to go! ^_^Laters
