Car insurance - time I've held my licence

I got my driving licence on 17th April 2005. My insurance renewal date is 11th April and I usually buy the policy a few weeks before (I'm doing it today for this year).
Insurers ask how long you have held your licence for and every year I wonder, will it suffice to count April to April as 1 year, or do I have to count it to the exact date and say I've had it 8 years, even though it will be 9 years 6 days after my renewal?
I hope that makes sense!

Ask the Insurers your receiving the quotes from and make a note of the time / date of the call and the persons name0

It's a bit difficult when starting off with comparison sites but I can contact the insurers with the top few quotes after I've got all the results in.
Just wondering whether I should do a comparison for both options. Takes so long though! But of course, I'd rather get it right.0 -
I would round the years licence held up and then ring then ring the Insurers you're interested in0

If push came to shove I'm sure the ombudsman would slap down any insurer that tried to void your policy based on this. It's just that you might have to argue it with them.0
