The fact that a couple of you have said it's not unusual to be waiting this long has made me feel a bit better about the whole thing so thank you for that. I will also ask about the fees when i call.
As the executor, the solicitor would have had to advertise in the London Gazette for creditors and wait for two months (some wait for three months to cover themselves) to give people time to come forward.
Despite that, the communication from them has been very poor.0 -
As you are in Scotland, it is very easy, and free, to check for confirmation (or if it has even been applied for):
The Sheriff Court local to where deceased lived is the one to contact. You can email them a request, just provide deceased's full name, last address, date of birth and date of death.Has confirmation been granted?
In order to find out if Confirmation to the deceased’s estate has been granted, you should contact either:- Your local sheriff court - access contact details; or
- HM Commissary Office based within Edinburgh Sheriff Court
