car insurance when unemployed

Hi, as u guess i am unemployed at present. Used to be a professional mechanical engineer. Do i need to notify the car insurance company about my job status? Will it be cheaper?

Also do to me not using my car often the mileage will be very low. I have a '96 mondeo and the annual mileage will be 5-6,000 miles

thanks
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Yes you have to tell insurance company. They usually ask anyway whether you use car for work. If you don't declare this change of use they could potentially say you are not insured as you had not declared all circumstances correctly.

It should be cheaper with less miles, don't know how much difference this actually makes.

They might charge you admin though.
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
