APNR, pay & display ticket, PCN

Hi newbie here, after reading these threads I wonder if I have messed up. I visited a retail park, 3 hours free parking with extra tariff for extra hours. I bought a pay and displayed ticket for an extra hour, entered car reg, got the ticket but one of the digits of car reg was missing. Didn't think anything of it at the time and displayed ticket. I left within the expiry time on the ticket.
As you can guess, I receive a NTK several days later, after I had thrown said ticket away. NTK said terms were breached, car overstayed permitted time, with APNR evidence of entry and exit times, PCN etc. I write letter of representation, deny liability, stating alleged contravention did not occur, paid for a ticket, asked them to check machines, as ticket had missing digit etc.
Unfortunately I didn't include the 3 points of the template letter (kindly provided by CPmad). Did I offer too much info - can they state ticket was invalid?
I will write complaint letter to the shop I have a receipt for. Just finding all this stressful, time-consuming and worringing.

Wait for them to reply to you. They will probably reject your appeal, then you can use popla to appeal there if this is England or Wales ? Come here for help on that. Which parking company was it?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Okay they will reply to you. And yes they do read these threads. One Parking Company called Parking Eye was openly advertising on their website for people to scour websites for people on forums they can take further action against. So keep your replies so nobody can identify you. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Hi update here
I wrote letters of complaint to the manager of a retail shop I visited (CC’d to CEO) and to the management company of the retail park.
I have recently received a reply from G@* today confirming that the PCN has been waived. This is their reply:
Further to your dispute regarding the above Contractual Parking charge Notice, we would like to confirm that this has been waived.
Please be aware of the terms and conditions of this car park as displayed on the signs in prominent locations throughout the car park.
If you receive a further Contractual Parking Charge Notice this will stand.
No further action is required by you.0 -
My immediate reaction to such an ill considered reply would be to go and get another one.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Ha Ha,
I am going to write back to them as I don't feel the case is fully resolved. I will accept the offer - that the charge need not be paid, but do not accept liability in that it can be issued. A threat to reissue the PCN is not following the BPA CoP - they need to either 1) cancel the charge and take no further management action other than informing the driver, or 2) uphold the parking charge and explain why it was issued and should therefore be paid.
I will require written confirmation that no further management action will be taken in the future. I also reserve the right to claim any costs relating to pursuance of a resolution to this case.0
